Often biohazard remediation (and its commonly used alternative, crime scene cleanup) gets confused with standard cleaning practices. However, the two services couldn’t be more different. Biohazard remediation refers to the removal, cleaning, and disinfection of blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially harmful pathogens in affected areas after a death, accident, or virus & disease outbreaks. Because of the high exposure risk to bloodborne pathogens, biohazard remediation is a specialty service that requires proper training, rigid safety practices, specialized equipment & cleaning agents, certification, and licensing.
In cases of a death or accident where blood is present, there is always a risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens (BBP) and biohazards ranging from viruses like Hepatitis, HIV, and COVID to bacteria like MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) or CRE (Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae). Statistics from the CDC show that approximately 1 in 24 people have either Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, or HIV.

Unfortunately, trauma scene cleanup is the responsibility of the property owner. In most cases, homeowners insurance policies will cover the cost of remediation services. However, this is not guaranteed. You need to check with your insurance adjuster to be certain. It’s important to note that insurance companies cannot dictate who you use. We do have experience working directly with insurance companies for our services and can help you with the process.
It is not recommended to try and clean the scene yourself. There is a great deal of state and federal mandates that govern the bio-hazard cleanup industry. State and Federal mandates have been established regulating the collection, handling, and disposal of human bio-hazardous waste. Individuals and companies can face serious penalties for not adhering to these regulations. Personnel conducting hazardous collection and disposal are required to follow specific training and medical mandates set by state and federal agencies.

If possible, we do prefer to conduct a final walk through when the work is completed to ensure customer satisfaction.
